Porcelain Veneers

The development of new adhesive materials and advanced techniques has enabled dentists to permanently affix thin, artistically hand-crafted veneers of porcelain to the front surfaces of the teeth, literally changing the faces of people across the country.

Porcelain Laminate Veneers have numerous advantages:

  • The natural tooth structure is preserved and the surrounding soft tissues remain the same.
  • Adjacent teeth of dissimilar color and contour can now be matched.
  • Permanent stains such as those caused by antibiotics administered during
    childhood can be masked.
  • Natural teeth weakened by decay and old fillings can now be strengthened by this process.
  • Fractured teeth can now be restored without the invasive tooth reduction necessary for full crown coverage.
  • Malaligned teeth can be corrected to produce a more perfect smile.
  • Diastemas, or spaces between the teeth, can be effectively closed with veneers.

Lasting longer than bleaching or composite bondings, Porcelain Laminate Veneers can have a life expectancy of 10-15 years. They are resistant to stains and are extremely natural looking, and won't discolor over time.

Dr. Curington maintains that veneers are one of the best restorations available today, but require extreme experience and talent, as these restorations are highly technique sensitive. Although they are more  expensive than traditional composite bondings and not covered by many insurance plans, the esthetic results far outweigh the cost.
